Studio Designer and XML Data Assistant

Job Purpose:

All types of studio work from advertisement design to book and catalogue creation, magazine and data management

Key Responsibilities:

Catalogues

  • Prepare catalogues for printing including placing of advertisements, generating tables of contents and index as required and executing pre-flight checking of pdf files
  • Page assembly of transformed data utilising Adobe InDesign
  • Tagging raw text in XML for inclusion into the database
  • Transforming XML data to use in catalogue production
  • Carry out OCR scanning of stock items, including stamps, photographs, illustrations etc. as required to the highest standards
  • Uploading scanned images to the database

Magazines

  • Design and amend advertisements as required
  • Check incoming advertising material
  • Assemble Magazine advertising pages
  • Preflight magazine pdfs and upload to the printer

Experience required:

  • Thorough knowledge of DTP packages. InDesign essential
  • XML, HTML Tagging
  • Java Script
  • Knowledge of database systems

Qualifications:

  • Graphic design or book production qualification
  • IT certification or evidence of courses attended

Skills required:   

  • Good design and typographical knowledge
  • Good computer and keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills
  • An eye for detail and accuracy is a must

  • To fit in as part of a small dynamic studio team
  • Organised and well presented
